Learn how to view, start, continue, and manage your background checks in the Certn applicant portal, including how to check your application status, identify expiring invitations, and access your background check history.
How do I view my current background checks?
Your current background checks appear at the top of your Certn applicant portal dashboard. These are background check applications that are available for you to complete.
Each background check appears as a separate card displaying:
- Application status: Indicates whether your background check is ready to start or in progress.
- Requesting company: The name of the company that requested your background check.
- Invitation date: The date you first received your background check invitation.
- Application button: Select Get started to begin a new application or Continue to resume an application you've already started.
What do the background check statuses mean?
Your current background checks may display the following statuses:
- Ready to start: You haven't started your background check application. Select Get started to begin.
- In progress: You've started your background check application but haven't completed it. Select Continue to resume where you left off.
- Expired: Your background check invitation has expired and can no longer be completed. Contact the company that requested your background check, as they will need to order a new check for you. You can select Archive to remove the expired invitation from your list of current background checks.
Note: If your background check invitation is close to expiring, a reminder banner will appear on the background check card. Complete your application before the invitation expires.
Where can I find my submitted, completed, or expired background checks?
Background checks that are no longer current appear in the History section of your applicant portal.
This includes background checks that are:
- Submitted
- Processing
- Completed
- In dispute
- Archived
- Declined
