Hard and soft dependencies
When Identity Verification is combined with other checks, the results may change information relating to the applicant such as name and date of birth or may cancel related checks if it is unable to be verified.
Hard dependency on Identity Verification
When an Identity Verification check result determines whether an accompanying check is cancelled or completed. This outcome can stem from either our biometric or Non-Biometric Identity Verification solutions.
For example, Canadian Criminal Record Checks (CCRC) require identity verification in order to initiate the check. If the Identity Verification check result is Not Verified then the Canadian Criminal Record Check will be cancelled.
Note: Identity Verification is automatically added to any order which includes a check where it is a hard dependency.
For more information on ordering checks through Certn’s client portal, see the Order checks Certn Help article.
Hard dependency on OneID
When biometric identity verification is required and the result determines whether an accompanying check is cancelled or completed. In this case Non-Biometric Identity Verification is not an option.
For example, the United Kingdom Right to Work (UK RTW) check requires biometric identity verification in order to initiate the check. If the OneID check result is Not Verified then the UK RTW check will be cancelled.
Soft dependency on Identity Verification
When Identity Verification is included in an order with a check where there is a soft dependency, the information used to submit the dependent check will depend on the success of the Identity Verification verification.
When an Identity Verification check is successful, the name and date of birth of the applicant gathered through the Identity Verification will be used to submit the check with the soft dependency, even if it differs from information supplied by the applicant directly.
When an Identity Verification check is unable to verify an applicant’s identity, the applicant-submitted information will be used to submit the check with a soft dependency.
