Order this check
To order an Identity Verification check from Certn’s new platform you must have the applicant’s email address.
For more information on ordering checks through Certn’s client portal, see the Order checks Certn Help article.
Verification methods
Our primary ID verification method is OneID, a secure and instant online solution utilizing government-issued ID documents and a selfie to ensure applicants are accurately authenticated.
Our secondary ID verification method is a non-biometric solution that verifies an applicant’s identity through Interac® verification service. This check serves as a seamless automatic fallback when OneID cannot be completed, provided eligibility criteria are met.
For more information on Results of OneID Checks, view the OneID check results Certn Help article.
OneID and Non-Biometric Identity Verification checks cannot be ordered as standalone solutions but are available as part of the Identity Verification check offering.
Turnaround time
On average, Certn’s Identity Verification checks are complete within 30 seconds of an applicant submitting their information.
Some applicants may be subject to a manual review which takes an average of 24 hours to complete.
Stages of this check
Identity Verification checks ordered through Certn’s new platform go through the following stages:
1. Order
You place an order for Identity Verification that includes the OneID check.
2. Application
The applicant receives an email invitation to complete the case.
They can choose to opt out of the Biometric (OneID) option. If eligible* they can fallback to the Non-Biometric flow.
3. Processing
Certn processes the check using the identity information supplied by the applicant.
4. Results
The check's results become available to you in the client portal and to the applicant in the applicant portal.
*Applicant eligibility: Canadian address required.
Applicant experience
When you order an Identity Verification check, the applicant receives an email inviting them to complete an application. Through the application process, the applicant will supply Certn with:
- their legal name and any relevant prior names,
- their address history,
- consent to use biometric facial recognition to verify their identity and consent to verify the validity of the photo ID,
- photos of a government-issued photo ID, and
- a selfie.
If the applicant fails or opts out of our primary Identity Verification solution, OneID, they will be automatically redirected to another option if eligible. For more information review the Identity Verification guide for applicants Certn Help article.
