OneID, Certn’s secure and instant identity verification solution, impacts the information submitted for some checks included in the same case. This article goes over those impacts and the difference between a hard dependency and a soft dependency as it relates to Certn’s OneID checks.
For more information on Results of OneID Checks, view the OneID check results Certn Help article.

Hard and soft dependencies
When OneID is combined with other checks, the results may change information relating to the applicant such as name and date of birth or may cancel related checks if OneID is Unable to Verify.
Hard dependency
When a OneID check result determines whether an accompanying check is cancelled or completed.
For example, Canadian Criminal Record Checks (CCRC) require identity verification through OneID in order to initiate the check. If the OneID check result is Unable to Verify then the Canadian Criminal Record Check will be cancelled.
Note: OneID is automatically added to any order which includes a check where it is a hard dependency.
For more information on ordering checks through Certn’s client portal, see the Order checks Certn Help article.
Soft dependency
When OneID is included in an order with a check where there is a soft dependency, the information used to submit the dependent check will depend on the success of the OneID verification.
When a OneID check is successful, the name and date of birth of the applicant gathered through OneID will be used to submit the check with the soft dependency even if it differs from information supplied by the applicant directly.
When a OneID check is unable to verify an applicant’s identity, the applicant-submitted information will be used to submit the check with a soft dependency.
