Explanation of results
When you order an AU Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and it is completed, there are two possible outcomes:
- Clear, No match found
- Review, Results found
The report will show minimal data on the report directly and will include a hyperlinked Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) sub-report which is presented in a standard format approved by the ACIC.
The background checking report will include:
- The check name (Standard / Volunteer Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check)
- The high-level result (No match found, Results found)
- Completed date
- Check ID.#
- Date submitted to ACIC
- Date completed by ACIC
- ACIC report link.
No Disclosable Court Outcomes (NDCO)
If an AU Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check receives a Clear, No match found result, it indicates the certificate contains No Disclosable Court Outcomes. This means that either there is:
- no police information identified; or
- no police information that can be released based on the check purpose, and the application of relevant spent convictions legislations and/or information release policies.
Disclosable Court Outcomes (DCO)
If an AU Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check receives a Review, Result found result, it indicates the certificate contains Disclosable Court Outcomes. This means there is police information that can be released based on the details included with the application, including the check purpose.
A check result with a DCO may list the following police information:
- court convictions, including penalties and sentences
- findings of guilt with no conviction
- court appearances
- good behaviour bonds or other court orders
- matters awaiting court hearing
- warrants and/or warnings
- traffic offences
Result Limitations
- NCCHCs are only available to Australian customers who have been registered with and approved by the ACIC.
- NCCHC reports are only made available for three months post-issue date. After this time, the overall result (match found, no match found) will be visible but you will not be able to access the full ACIC report.
- The ACIC requires that data is stored for 12-15 months post-submission to the National Police Checking Service. After this time all ACIC data will be deleted (including applicant data, documents, results and consent).
